Tulle
“Playing dress up begins at age 5 and never truly ends.” – Kate Spade
That quote is one of my favorites from Kate Spade and I feel like it completely describes this outfit perfectly. My grown self never thought I’d relive my 5-year-old princess days but here I am at almost 22 still playing dress up! I’m so glad these skirts are in because they are so fun to dress up or dress down. It’s retro, girly, chic, and doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Now I know some people are a bit intimidated by this recovered trend but fear not! There are so many different ways to wear it.
I was going for mega-girly with this look so I paired it with this crop top from Bebe and these lace up heels from DSW. With these skirts being so poofy it’s easy to get swallowed up and look tacky. I paired it with this crop top so I could still maintain shape and not take away from the focus being on the skirt. If I were going to wear it later into the night I would’ve added a leather jacket to take it from girly to edgy.
On a more casual day I’d probably pair it with something like that Chambray shirt from yesterday’s post and my Adidas. Some people are iffy about pairing tulle with something as casual as tennis shoes but it is SO cute and dresses down the outfit perfectly if you do it the right way!
My favorite places to shop tulle skirts are Windsor, Charlotte Russe, and Forever 21. I got mine from Charlotte Russe in Grapevine (for all my local girls) and it was on sale for $7. What a steal! Here is the exact one I have but it isn’t on sale online. Each one of these stores has tulle skirts on sale right now so I’ll link my favorites below if you want to shop the link!
