Conference Talk #1: Tips To Success
Happy hump day! We’re halfway through the week, woohoo! I went to the Heart and Sole Conference this past weekend which focused on teaching and inspiring female entrepreneurs and creative minds. I learned so much from all the great speakers. I took so many notes throughout the day and wanted to share in hopes that some of this advice could help you or your business as well. I allowed you to vote on my stories which topic you would rather see a post about this week:
– Launching a brand/product to market
OR
-Tips to success and growing your personal brand
The majority of you voted for tips to success and growing your brand, so that’s what this week’s post will be about! When I started putting this post together I realized that combining my notes from Tips To Success plus Growing Your Personal Brand would be waaaay too long of a post. I don’t want to bore y’all! So I’ll dedicate a whole post to growing your brand soon as well. We’re just going to make this a conference series haha!
Next week I’ll be sure to post about everything I learned that goes into launching a brand or product because a lot of you voted for that option as well. No worries, I’ll be sure to give you all the information!
So let’s get into it.
The first speaker was Terri Savelle Foy. I highly recommend checking her out if you’ve never heard of her. I recently started listening to her podcast every morning and it’s a great positive start to the day. I also bought her book “Imagine Big: Unlock The Secret To Living Out Your Dreams” at the conference. I’m excited to start reading and gaining even more tips from her.
She continually preaches that once you change your routine you will change your life. She has an acronym that she lives by: DRIVE.
D: Decision – take responsibility for where you are right now in your life.
*You are where you are because of what you’re CHOOSING to be. Let that sink in.
R: Routine – make a list of 5 things to start doing every single morning. Some examples could be listening to a motivational message every morning, meditate, take time to read, etc. Incorporate 5 positive things into your morning for 21 days and see how your mindset will change.
* The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine.
*Consume your life with personal growth.
I: Investment – “Don’t wish it were easier, wish you were better.”
*Learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job. If you work hard on your job you can make a living, but if you work harder on yourself you can make a fortune.
*When your mindset improves everything around you improves.
V: Vision – Write down your dreams and goals. (This one is important!)
*Give yourself permission to dream without asking “how.” Asking “how” will allow you to talk yourself out of it. JUST START.
*Imagine 5 years into the future – what have you accomplished in 5 years?
*When the vision is clear the results with appear.
*Ask yourself what needs to happen in order to say that 2019 will be the best year of your life. (Write it down!)
E: Everything you’ve got – learn to fight for your dreams and realize that it will be hard but it will also be worth it.
*When you feel like giving up the most that’s when your breakthrough is about to happen.
*Don’t share big dreams with small minds. Small minds can suck ambition out of you and make you question everything.
*You get what you ask for. What are you missing out on just because you haven’t asked yet?
*You are the average of the 5 people that you spend the most time with? Surround yourself with successful people.

The next speaker that touched on this subject is Rachel Sipperley. She is the founder of the app Rent My Wardrobe. Basically you can post pieces from your own closet to rent out when you’re not wearing those items and earn money. Pretty awesome concept if you ask me!
She spoke about what she believed to be the 3 Keys To Success: Purpose, preparation, and persistence.
In order to be successful you must know your “what” and your “why” for doing whatever it is that you are working towards. She stated that it is important to have an elevator pitch and there are 4 main components you should focus on:
-Who you are and what you do
-What makes you different from your competition
-Why do your customers (or following) need you?
-What is your main mission
Rachel recommends having a 30 second, 1 minute, and 5 minute elevator pitch prepared.
Whether we want to admit it or not people are very focused on “What’s in it for me?” when it comes to doing things in life. It’s important to approach business/collaborations/or whatever it is that you may be doing with the mindset of “What’s in it for the OTHER PERSON?” when trying to work with people. The more you give the more you will get back.

Those are the main takeaways I learned from the Tips To Success standpoint. Hopefully you can also implement a few of these concepts into your daily life and let’s see where we end up in 2019! If you like informational posts like this one or if anything I wrote stuck out to you, I’d love to hear it! I always love connecting with you all 🙂 Thank you so much for reading and look out for the other topics I will cover in this conference series!
